Welcome!

Bitter Sweet

It’s been a few weeks since I last wrote a blog post. I’ve been lost in Norway-at least in my thoughts and mind.

Today is my last full day here and I leave early tomorrow morning. There is something about this place that just feels right and yet I know once I’m on that airplane back to the states, I’ll be excited to be really home. Home to see my very own family. The people who know and understand me the most. The ones that I miss more than any other.

It’s hard to put into words but Norway is a very special place to me. It’s filled mostly with memories from being young and growing up and living in a different culture. It’s a place where I feel very comfortable, as if I belong. It’s a place where all my relatives came from, which creates an amazing history. It’s a history I love to learn about which is like a puzzle of people’s lives. I try to connect each person to the other and come up with a version of truth that may or may not be totally accurate. Either way, it makes for many wonderful stories that dance around in my head.

So, I say goodbye-for now. Until next time-which I hope is very soon.

I’ll be writing a travel blog in the next few weeks. It will be different than my Italy and California travel blog because this one is so personal. I’ll try to make it practical to those who cannot relate to the feeling and longing of being in Norway. It is a beautiful country with so much to see and experience. I’ve posted so many pictures on Instagram @midnighsund and Facebook but hopefully you’ll enjoy a few more.

Off I go to deliberately soak up the last rays of sun and enjoy the quite and peaceful view from our family hytte (cabin) built on the rugged rocks of the Land of the Midnight Sun!
