Favorite on Friday: symbols

Favorite on Friday: symbols

Our family is going through some rough days dealing with a loved one who is quite ill. At the same time, life continues to move forward despite being in the midst of sadness.

Today is Good Friday, and in some ways, there doesn’t appear to be anything good about this day. But, we are approaching the holiest of days in the Christian faith, Easter Sunday, and I can’t allow myself to lose sight of that.

Everything is different this year. We are separated from our loved ones and it’s almost hard to even recognize the holiday, let alone celebrate its meaning. However, I think it behooves us to dig a little deeper and draw from our faith to help restore and nourish us with something much greater than our own current situation.

I took a bunch of pictures of some of the symbols of Easter that I decorated in my home. It’s just a reminder of what Easter means. If they cause us to reflect a little more, and appreciate the sacrifice and the beauty of this season, then displaying them is worth doing.

Writing this blog helps me focus my thoughts and settle my emotions for a bit.

While going through my emails this morning, I came across an email from the Farmers’ Almanac. They posted a blog about Easter and where the traditions stem from. One thing I read, these traditions are part of generations of history. It doesn’t negate ones faith-based beliefs, but puts these traditions in context of history. I hope you take a look at the link below.
